Microsoft Edge Freezing?

I was so excited to download Windows 2010 yesterday and even more excited about Microsoft Edge.  Yesterday after downloading it was extremely fast. Sometime around 10pm last night however it decided to slow down and keep freezing.  It doesn't like any online games or even some websites it just stops and loads or refuses to do anything until I personally reload the page or restart the browser. Anyone else having these issues? How do I fix it?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

This might have occurred due to some change in settings.

Follow the methods and check if that helps:

Method 1:

Refer to these steps to open Edge using InPrivate option.

Run the Edge using InPrivate option and check the issue status.

  1. Open the Edge, then click on more options (...)

  2. Click on New InPrivate window.

Method 2:

Refer to these steps to clear the browsing data.

Reset the Edge by clearing browning data and check if that helps you.

  1. Open the Edge, then click on more options(...)

  2. Click on Settings, then click on clearing browning data.

  3. Select all, then click on Clear.

  4. Restart the Edge and check the issue status.

Let us know the result.

Same here! My edge freezes all the time when on simple websites like Target or Walmart......Chrome works fine. This needs an update!

I have the same problem here. None of your methods helped. It may be an important information that my Windows 10 is not a clean install, it's upgraded from Windows 8.1 by Windows Media Creation Tool.

You can check the edge freezing issue here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2vcg1k

Every time I open the link above, Edge freezes the content part of the browser.

For me, Edge freezes after it has been inactive for a while; not sure how long it takes.  When Edge freezes, I use Task Manager to close it.  When I restart it, it returns with the same tabs opened.

Rajith - telling us to open an inPrivate page is not at all a fix to the problem. inPrivate is the same as incognito on Chrome. I actually want my browsing data and cookies to be saved, it is helpful when I need to find things that I cannot remember the name of.

The problem is with Edge itself, not whether it's inPrivate or normal. Please give us a more realistic answer. Please stop with the scripted, robotic answers that don't even acknowledge the problem.

I love Windows 10. Edge (aside from this problem) is an excellent browser. Issues will happen with a new release and that I can live with. What does frustrate me is this overly diplomatic approach Microsoft takes with issues where they refuse to acknowledge fault and provide time wasting work-arounds.

Escalate this to the appropriate team and please communicate what is happening. Communication nine times our of ten will alleviate your customers concerns.

Seeing problems with Edge freezing up on 32bit PC no problem on 64bit pc.   As noted need real feedback on problem resolution when recommend fix has no effect on the reported problem.  When you don't communicate, you communicate you don't care.

I'm having the issue on certain websites as well. I have it a clean Windows 10 install on a MacBook Air with bootcamp.

My computer is a new AMD A10, 64 bit Win 8.1, upgraded to Win 10.  Edge is loading very quickly, then locking up on virtually any page with video, on almost every page in Facebook, and generally is performing poorly on almost anything but text pages.  I cleared my cache several times, and tried running in InPrivate before even turning to the internet for solutions.

I've downloaded Chrome for now, but it would be nice to see MS fix this, as Edge looks like it could be a good idea when it finally works.  Disappointing that with this many complaints this early, somebody hasn't suggested anything better than try InPrivate.  As already noted, that can't be a real solution!
